"Lakes & Mountains" – Salzkammergut
Blue lakes, mountains, the scene of countless operettas and movies; beautiful Salzkammergut region is worth a visit.
Our trip takes you via lake Fuschl with the famous Palace Hotel to St. Gilgen at idyllic lake Wolfgangsee. The journey around the lake leads to the old pilgrimage town of St. Wolfgang; see the famous winged altar at the gothic church and The White Horse Inn (“Weisses Rössl”).
May through October you might want to take a romantic boat ride across the lake or a trip on the historic rack railroad to the top of Schafberg Mountain, with one of the most exciting panoramas across dozens of lakes and snow-covered mountains.
November through March we take you to Bad Ischl, a beautiful small spa town with the summer residence of Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph. Enjoy finest pastries at Café Zauner.
On the way back we pass more lakes and have one more stop at Mondsee with the famous wedding church from The Sound of Music.
The great number of lakes & mountains in the Salzkammergut area allows for countless extensions and different versions of the tour; e.g. to Hallstatt, a world heritage site with its saltmines, or to idyliic Gmunden at lake Traunsee. For an individual day tour ask for suggestions and a quote!
